About Us
O.U.R. Upper Nyack Kids is a non-profit organization that manages The Carol Slaybaugh Fund and funds mini-grants that benefit our Upper Nyack children. We are funded through the school’s annual “Gala” and donations.
The Carol Slaybaugh Fund: A 25 Year Tradition
Carol Slaybaugh was the school nurse at Upper Nyack many years ago who lost her battle to cancer. A fund was set up in her memory to continue the good deeds she had been quietly doing: paying for kids’ glasses, winter clothing, field trip payments, camp scholarships and instrument rentals for students who would not otherwise be able to participate. The Slaybaugh Fund has been supporting children for the past 25 years.
Mini–Grants
O.U.R. UN Kids awards mini-grants that are based on merit. It may include curricular, extra-curricular, enrichment or remedial programs that target small or large groups of children. Projects may encourage a range of physical, creative, social and academic accomplishments.

How do you apply for a grant?
Contact Suzie Kaufman or Rachel Berlin and ask for the application. If you have any questions while you are filling it out, you can ask her for assistance.
Would You Like to Help? If you want to make a donation to benefit Upper Nyack Elementary School (UNES) children, you can receive a tax benefit. If you would like to make a monetary donation, you can write a tax-deductible check to O.U.R. Upper Nyack Kids and send it to Mrs. Meyerson. Contact Ms. Brooks at ebrooks@nyackschools.org with items you would like to donate. If it is something the school can use you will receive a receipt for your donation.
